Congress of the United States
Joe Wilson 2nd District, South Carolina
212 Cannon House Office Building
Washington, DC 20515-4002

Attention: Congressman Wilson;

It was a pleasure and honor to meet with you. We do apologize for missing your speech; unfortunately we were in a heated debate in Congresswoman's Berkley's Office.

We have several issues that are concerning veterans and we understand that you do not sit on the Veterans Affairs Committee however; we do believe that you will find a way to have our voices heard.

Veterans are being shortchanged we are the first line of defense and we provided freedom to all the people of the world. We are tired of hearing "that's how government works." If that's how government works all involved should be replace, because it seems like no one wants to fix it and make a difference.

Here in Southern Nevada we have not seeing a veteran's hospital since 2003. The (VA) Veteran Administration closes the hospital down for faulty construction ship. Our schedule hospital was promised to be build by 2009 and then changed to 2011. The price tag for this hospital was $200 million, $400 million and now it's over $600 million. This hospital is being built on donated land at this skyrocketing price.

While private hospitals such as Valley Springs, Centennial Hills, and Southern Hills cost a fraction of the cost and time for these hospitals to be built, it's taken the (VA) Veteran Administration years and millions of dollars above what private hospitals are doing.

During this time veterans have to go out of state for care leaving their family members behind and they do not have the support of family members unless it's out of pocket to the veteran. Veterans get only 28.5 cents per mile while the Internal Revenue gives its citizen 44.5 cents per mile. We find it appalling that the VA does not match the mileage the Internal Revenue offers.

Some veterans have to drive hundreds of miles to get to the nearest VA hospital passing by several private hospitals and clinics.  We would like congress to take a strong position on the Veteran Insurance card given veteran a choice to go to the VA hospital, their private doctor, or their neighborhood clinics and hospitals.

We are not saying shut down all VA hospitals and clinics, but we can reduce the amounts that are built if we provide veterans with a health card to use in the private sector.

We do understand that some (VOS) Veterans Organization Services groups do not want a VA insurance card, because they are worried about their jobs at these VA facilities. We are outraged by this that these organizations are worried about their own personal jobs rather than making a veterans life easier.

We would like to offer our testimony in Congress to let the congressional members know that we are in full support of this VA health card and we are tired of politicians playing their political trump card with our veteran's lives.
